I went straight to a wash room and found a heater inside. It turned on only when I approached the wash stand. Smart heater in a northern country to warm up your body while you wash your hands.
This is the entrance of the park.
Paid for the ticket and came to the start point.
It was so large but not too huge. Following the sign, I started walking ahead.
It was like the tunnel of love in Ukraine.
Good to walk a passage like this in nature.
The first exhibit was those houses made of straw .
Separate ways.
Going straight
Walked by a pond
Trees and a straw house in the rain
Found a big straw house.
Inside the house, there was real fire. As far as I could see, it didn’t look like imitation. It could be dangerous to have real fire inside cause there were woods and straws but it is well managed I believe.
In side of the house.
The teeth of people in stone age were like this since they had to eat breads made in stone querns to grind flour. Those breads often contained grits in them. The breads we eat today must be heaven’s taste for them. We need to savor every bite of the bread more and thank to bakers. I always feel happy when I’m in bakery shops and choosing which bread to take on the plate. Glad to live in the time to have such precious breads without any grits and maintain well reserved teeth.
After that, I saw something in the yard. What’s this?
Oh.. horrible scarecrow. I didn’t know his face and appearance looked scary as well for birds but this was the best scarecrow I’d ever seen. The ones in Japan look rather cute after seeing this.
This is a large tomb.
It might be tough to bring those stones one by one.
Lovely chair in the park
I rushed around the park after that to take pictures cause my phone battery was left only 3%.
Gate tower
Stone house by the side
Inside of the house
Stone houses look far robust. Hundreds of stones can make a house but it still feels like a miracle. Yard
Unique cross, very different from other ones I’ve ever seen.
Walking through the way..
Going across a small bridge
Going across another bridge
Kept walking ahead
I found a map. Half way left to reach the goal.
Small houses by the river.
River view
Walking a long way up
I found a high tower and a white architecture.
Came closer
Open unblocked river view from the hill. Far apart from the city life.
A few houses in peaceful serene landscape in distance.
Walked the way back
Came back to the river side, there was a big wooden boat.
On the boat, I felt the image to go catching fish for living.
Almost done to see around the park and I walked toward the start point and I could see it beyond the river.
Bird with a beautiful beak.
The battery died immediately after I finished seeing all the points and came back to the start point. Mission accomplished and case served. It was really good for me to take all the pictures I wanted to take. I enjoyed seeing goods in a souvenir shop.
Smashing post cards of Guinness.
What a nice combination, two gorgeous stars on one table.
This is a garnish for a xmas tree.
Sheep
???
(Definitely I like it)
Funny t-shirts
Guinness t-shirt
Old coins
I see this harp in Guinness logo and it’s used as national emblem in Ireland, too. The Irish harps were used to sing folk songs and they are much smaller than the ones we see in a classic concert. It might be a more casual instrument like a guitar for old Irish people.
It was raining heavily but I could enjoy enough to walk around the park. It repeated getting strong and weak but ceased in the end. The park closed at 16:00 so that a reception woman helped me to book a taxi. I was planning to visit Johnstown castle nearby by taxi but unfortunately it closed 16:00 as well. It was different from my guide book’s information so that was good for me to hear it from local people. She told me that the taxi would come in 15 mins and I waited outside. I could see a dark river outside.
10 mins passed, 15 mins passed, 20 mins… 30 mins.. 40 mins…. I kept waiting outside but no taxi came to pick me up even after waiting for it patiently for 45 mins.
I gave up the ride in the end and started walking to get back to down town area to take a bus to move to the next town called Waterford. It was 4 km away from the park to the bus stop and took 50 mins to walk the way like this.
Traffic sign showed 80km, wow, it’s fast to drive a way like this.
Something like a tower on the left
I liked the dark river under such a cloudy sky.
Walked the way ahead, I found a giraffe in distance.
Nice to meet you.
It was a long way.
But walking the way unexpectedly like this was something nice for me. I could see local houses, local cars, local fences, local grasses…
local scenery
local road
local nothingness
local residential area
local rail way and port
Those are nothing special but feeling them as a foreign solo traveler is still nice for me.
Night fell and finally I could see the bus stop. It seemed the same stop I dropped off yesterday.
And I found the supermarket I visited yesterday. I convinced that I wasn’t lost.
45 mins was left before taking the bus so I had dinner at a Thai restaurant. It was nice red curry. I didn’t expect that I could have such authentic Thai cuisine in this little town in Ireland.
I enjoyed the food very much but after that I had to run back to the bus stop. Before I come to the Thai restaurant, I just kept walking at will to find a nice restaurant somewhere but the distance I walked was a bit farer than I thought. It took 10 mins at full throttle.
I could be in time to catch the bus. Relived not to miss it at all.
After 1 hour travel, the bus arrived at a little port town called Waterford.
There was a little clock tower by the bus stop.
And I saw this art beside the river.
The Irish guy in the reception was so friendly again and the room was like this. It was so much different from other dormitory beds.
And there ware a lot little birds in the hostel.
I almost hear them chirping there.
Near the floor
In every corner.
Going down stairs,
I found a nice common space next to reception desk. It’s like a living room at home.
Long day ends
